I was looking forward to the viewing, especially because this was our first movie in Honors 203. I was surprised to see that the film was entirely in French, yet the subtitles were of invaluable importance. I wish there would have been subtitles when the local Africans were speaking Swahili, but I was still able to comprehend the plot and follow along.

\nI feel as though our discussion on Friday was necessary. The film left many points open to interpretation. Even in our generation's block-buster premieres, I hate films that force the audience to come up with its own inference. I would prefer having the director explicitly state what is intended or why a certain character is acting in a particular manner. For example, I wonder if Aimee and Protee had sexual relations. Although there was a lot of sexual tension expressed throughout the film, especially when Protee was helping Aimee with her dress, I feel as though they abstained from sexual behaviors. Despite my inference, I would like to know what was the director's intent.

\nIn all, I enjoyed the film. I liked flashing back to France's childhood, and I thought it was a nice way to end the semester. Moreover, the film provided a direct comparison and contrast to the other civilization works we have discussed. It was interesting to compare Marlow's point of view, Okonkwo's point of view and France's point of view. While we discussed the same topic, we were able to broaden our horizons by analyzing different perspectives.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"71866758","body":"*Correction - This is Weekly Response #15.","dateCreated":"1398525288","smartDate":"Apr 26, 2014","userCreated":{"username":"swimgym604","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/swimgym604","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}}],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
