Would you apply this learning to The Odyssey? When Odysseus returns home, we get kind of a picture of a Greek social structure. Having a particular text in mind will help you focus on a particular time period.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"46714788","body":"Yea, I didn't really know what text incorporated that idea, but the idea itself really intrigued me so I was just going to try and find something we read that went along with slavery. What you said about her having to run the household all these years is an important point. If you think about it, eventually people start to lose fear of Odysseus returning home and try to take advantage of her. And although the suitors are being horrible house guests, she hasn't succumbed to them and still has a handle on her house staff.
\nAlso, with Athena, I love the empathy she has for Odysseus. It'd be so easy to write him off as a pathetic human, but Athena stays loyal. I think this is a great example of the Gods having super-human power. I don't know if I would've been this patient with Odysseus.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42253618","dateCreated":"1315632753","smartDate":"Sep 9, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"Danny_Delaney","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Danny_Delaney","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1316706599\/Danny_Delaney-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42253618"},"dateDigested":1532652739,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Temperamental Gods","description":"I would absolutely have to agree with you that the fact that all of the gods in The Odyssey are temperamental would make me more scared than anything... The fact that humans could also be used as mere pawns for the gods' entertainment would also terrify me.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42071832","dateCreated":"1315361675","smartDate":"Sep 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"mscothartman","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mscothartman","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1282414428\/mscothartman-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42071832"},"dateDigested":1532652740,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"odyssey","description":"The Greeks might have believed that everything happens for a reason, just not that everything happens for a good reason. :> They did believe in fate, which even the gods couldn't change.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
