It is amazing how loyal she stays to Odysseus; especially with the many suitors in her midst. I wish we could say Odysseus' loyality was the same. Penelope definitely is a kind of hero in that sense. However, Odysseus is a hero as well. He faced many tests and trials along his journey that I feel strengthened him and provided a lesson to be learned. Of course he made quite a few mistakes along the way, but is it fair to hold those against him? After all, he is only human. :)","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42305548","dateCreated":"1315790490","smartDate":"Sep 11, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"jcksmith458","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/jcksmith458","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42305548"},"dateDigested":1532652784,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Odysseus ","description":"I do not think that Odysseus is the hero he is portrayed to be either. I think it would take more strength to let your spouse go off to war and then not see them for 10 years than to be the one out gallivanting. Also, her undying loyalty and faithfulness just seems to make the escapades of Odysseus that much more evident and stinging.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42075158","dateCreated":"1315365686","smartDate":"Sep 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"mscothartman","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mscothartman","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1282414428\/mscothartman-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42075158"},"dateDigested":1532652784,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"odyssey","description":"Star Wars is a good story to compare to epic and myth, since George Lucas was deliberately using a classical heroic pattern in his story.
