\nThis is a really interesting connection to The Odyssey. Do you think Odysseus becomes another person when he is in disguise? Does he get into the role? Or is he always himself in some essential way?","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"43450564","body":"I think he is able to control himself more and play the part effectively. She is such a strong and majestic character! Without Athena where would Odysseus be? Would Telemachus ever find the nerve to tell the suitors to get lost or to go out and dig up answers for the questions he has of his father? Athena has the strength and courage of a mighty warrior, yet she still has a nurturing side to her.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42305370","dateCreated":"1315790258","smartDate":"Sep 11, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"TorriK","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/TorriK","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42305370"},"dateDigested":1532652807,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Intriguing","description":"I decided to read all three of your responses, and I must admit that I was delighted by your reflections. Honestly, I hadn't noticed that Athena wasn't in the story much recently, but now that you mentioned it I am moderately disappointed that she hasn't been! I laughed at your connection between her and mayonnaise. Seriously, comic gold AND genius. It's rather true that she sort of holds the story and Odysseus together since he is clearly not as level-headed as he'd like to think he is. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has never read the Odyssey before and isn't hopelessly in love with it; although I will admit that I don't mind reading it! I won't be creeping on your journals, but if any of them are humorous, please let me know. I like to giggle :)","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42074778","dateCreated":"1315365108","smartDate":"Sep 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"mscothartman","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mscothartman","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1282414428\/mscothartman-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42074778"},"dateDigested":1532652807,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"odyssey","description":"Yes, Athena seems very in control in this story.
