\nI agree with your view of the Greek gods, they do not seem very holy or "god like" in our sense and understanding of the term. It is very interesting as you stated that there is so much drama surrounding the gods, that in my mind they are just like humans, but they never die. They are flawed and make a lot of mistakes and rash decisions, and if I was Greek I would find it difficult to hold them in such high regard. I can not fully grasp the concept of flawed gods. I also found your last question very interesting. It was my understanding that Odysseus did not really pick which spirits he talked to but rather they can to him. Perhaps these women came to him because they were not famous, and wanted to tell their story, they wanted to be remembered. Or also I noticed that most of the women also had gods as "lovers". That is something Odysseus can relate to, and in a way justify his behavior.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42251914","dateCreated":"1315625389","smartDate":"Sep 9, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"dmbishop2","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/dmbishop2","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42251914"},"dateDigested":1532652868,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"odyssey","description":"Your final question was interesting and I had never even thought of it! The way I see it (and this is not everyone's opinion) but conversing with the opposite sex is often more relaxing especially if you spend tons of time with your own gender. If I were Odysseus, I would be hanging out in hair salons and botanical gardens just to soak in some estrogen. There is also a chance that men did not enjoy the pretenses of acting humble in another man's domain. Sometime men would prefer to be surrounded by people who allow him to remain dominant.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"42264324","body":"I agree with your view of the Greek gods, they do not seem very holy or "god like" in our sense and understanding of the term.
