I'm definitely not part of his fan club, but I will say that there were times when it was better that he didn't tell his men of their fate. After the whole "killing Helios' cows" debacle, Odysseus learned that none of his men would make it home alive. I think in this instance he may have been trying to protect them by keeping a secret. He couldn't change their fate, but he didn't tell them about their imminent doom because it really would have terrified his crew.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42251916","dateCreated":"1315625399","smartDate":"Sep 9, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"weswise","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/weswise","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42251916"},"dateDigested":1532652873,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Odyssey 7-13","description":"Up until these last few chapters that we read i agreed completely with what you said in this weeks response. Odysseus does endanger the lives of his crew a lot. However, in one of the recent chapters Odysseus had a choice to leave his men and probably get home earlier, but did not. This has changed my thought on Odysseus a little. I still believe that he is very careless with his men, but at least he cares for them a little.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"42075712","dateCreated":"1315366491","smartDate":"Sep 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"mscothartman","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mscothartman","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1282414428\/mscothartman-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bsuhonorshum.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/42075712"},"dateDigested":1532652873,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"odyssey","description":"Yes, the Greek gods really seem to act strange from a modern perspective.
