Write a 5-7 page researched argument essay (3-10 sources) or complete a creative project (with approval). The creative project must be accompanied by an "artist's statement" explaining and reflecting on the project (see below).
The project must address a major theme, issue, or idea from the course (or from the Humanities sequence overall). The project must in some way refer to at least three texts/artifacts from the course. (As with a thesis, part of the assignment is coming up with an idea for the project.)
You must submit a proposal outlining your plans for the project.
Collaborative option: You may work with a partner or small group. Everyone in the group will submit their own artist's statement.
Artist's Statement/Reflective Letter:
Write a 1-2 page letter explaining your goals and reflecting on your process and the outcome. What questions or themes were you interested in exploring? What did you hope to accomplish? What choices did you make? What was the process like? What did you learn (about the material, about your own creative/research/writing process)? What do you hope an audience would take away from your work?
Due date: At our final exam, May 2, 7:30 a.m. You will present your work to the class.
